One of the most famous landmarks in Abruzzo is the Gran Sassod’Italia mountain. It is the highest peak at almost 2,912 meters high in the Apennines. The views from the summit are absolutely stunning – on a clear day, you can see for miles and miles! There are plenty of hiking trails to choose from, so make sure to bring your walking boots if you plan on climbing this mighty mountain.
Another must-see attraction in Abruzzo is its coastline. The Adriatic Sea is crystal clear and provides perfect swimming conditions all summer long. There are also many lovely villages dotting the coast that make for great places to stop for lunch or dinner. One of my personal favorites is San Salvo Marina – it has a beautiful promenade with restaurants and bars overlooking the sea, plus a nice beach where you can take a swim or paddleboard!
