Bus Hostel Reykjavik has a unique social area which is a bar/eatery and it has the last ever McDonald’s sold in Iceland from 2009, which is unsurprisingly exactly how it looks from when they bought it.
We visited in February 2015 and the hostel was very quiet during this ‘out of season’ period.
The camera above the McDonald’s “burger and fries” streams live on the hostels website 24/7/365 and is considered to be one of the most boring live streams in the world.
Bus Hostel Reykjavik
One of the quirkiest hostels in Reykjavik, giving you a hip and authentic experience of Iceland’s capital
The Rooms
We stayed in a 4 bed mixed dorm and had the whole room to ourselves. The bunks were super big and solid so no movement when somebody fidgets in the one above you!
The room was very clean and the lockers were the perfect size, be sure to take a lock with you as they are not included.
Room Options:
Bus hostel has a range of single, double and twin rooms, aswell as a selection of 4 bed, 6 bed, 10 bed, 16 bed or 24 bed dorms.
Bedding is available but at a cost. If you have your own bedding, be sure to use it to save some cash.
The Facilities
Bathroom – There are multiple shared bathrooms, each a decent size with a shower, sink and toilet. If sharing isn’t your thing, opt for a dorm with an ensuite.
Kitchen – Bus hostel Reykjavik has two separate kitchens, providing great facilities to those on a budget.
Communal Areas – There is a bar/eatery on the ground floor which is a perfect chill out area with good wifi should you need it.
Extras – A great perk of staying here, is that the hostel offers a car rental facility.
Food and Drink
The cosy bar area is a great place to relax. No food is sold here however you can order a light breakfast if you wish. There is also a great selection of drinks available throughout the day.
