The Avocado Cafe Moscow
Two vegans heading to Moscow for a long weekend, uncertain about what lies ahead having never traveled to Russia before, then we stumble upon the Avocado Cafe Moscow.
We knew vodka shots were served with almost everything as part of Russian gastronomy, but we didn’t know that Moscow had a hidden vegan scene. The Avocado Cafe Moscow is right in the center of the city, a short walk from Red Square.
The Location
Situated right in the center of Moscow, around 10/15 minutes walking from Red Square, the Avocado Cafe Moscow is neatly tucked away in a side street full of lucrative fashion shops, typical to Moscow’s culture.
The location makes the Vegan and Vegetarian Avocado Cafe ideal for tourists and visitors.
The Restaurant
The cafe is cozy and elegantly decorated with a relaxing ambiance. The building is situated in a cave like structure which is underground and the beautiful lighting greatly compensates for the lack of windows. Light relaxing music is played making the venue super relaxing after a hectic day of sightseeing. Be careful not to bump your head on the curved ceiling if you are tall!
The Avocado Cafe Moscow Menu
The menu is easy to understand with English translations and clearly states whether the dish is vegan or not with a relevant symbol.
The staff were really helpful when we asked for clarity on the vegan dishes. Pictures of the food are included so you know exactly what you will be getting.
The Avocado Cafe Moscow Food
We each had a Lentil and Beetroot Burger with french fries (480 Rubles, £5, $7USD) followed by a raw chocolate and mint cake (280 Rubles, £3, $5).
The burger was the one of the tastiest we’ve ever had, seriously, the soft texture of the patty gave into the freshly baked bun and the crispy salad refreshed the pallet after every bite.
The raw chocolate cake (and side beer) were the perfect companions.

The staff were super friendly and spoke minimal English but remember you’re in Russia, learn Russian, use Google Translate or invest in a vegan travel card if you’re worried about what you are being served.
Overall, the Avocado Cafe Moscow is one of our favorite vegan eateries in the world and we will definitely be back on our next visit to the city.
