Yuma’s House, formerly known as Tina’s backpacker’s hostel, sits facing the open water on the beautiful Caribbean island of Caye Caulker in Belize. This laid-back hostel is a backpacker’s dream, and any traveler is likely to fall in love with colorful building the second they enter the gates. The host is very polite and super chilled out, making all guests feel instantly relaxed and welcomed. ‘Go-slow’ is the motto on the island so enjoy the vibe at this cheap paradise hostel.

Location
To get to Caye Caulker from Belize city, you have to take the Belize Water Taxi. A picturesque journey takes you through the Caribbean waters, past the islands of Hicks Cay, Long Cay and then onto the small island of Caye Caulker. The total journey time from Belize City to Caye Caulker is just over 1 hour.
Once you disembark the boat onto Caye Caulker, it is easy to find Yuma’s House as it’s just a few seconds walk from the ferry terminal. No need to jump on one of the golf cart taxis that are waiting for arrivals, just stroll ahead and you will see this beautiful hostel. Look out for the “Yuma’s House” sign attached to a palm tree and it’s colorful fence.
Yuma’s House is set in a perfect location, not only is it a very short stroll from the ferry terminal, it’s also set on the waterfront, close to top bars and restaurants on the island. It’s also just a 10-minute stroll to the Lazy Lizard Bar where you can swim ‘The Split’ which is considered to be one of the top things to do in Caye Caulker.
Rooms
Yuma’s House has six 4-person dorms with bunkbeds, or for those who like privacy, there are four private rooms with double beds and two private rooms with two single beds. Each room is comfortable and clean, and linen is provided and changed daily. Each person is provided with a locker in every room to store valuables.
This is a 2-story house with rooms on both floors, the host lives in one of the rooms on the top floor so always be respectful.

Facilities
There’s a shared communal area and 2 fully equipped shared kitchens for use of guests. For those wanting a relaxing day, help yourself to the selection of books and board games during your stay.
Caye Caulker is one of the best places in the world for snorkeling and diving and Yuma’s House offers snorkel equipment to hire for a very low price.
The communal showers and toilet areas are clean and there’s even a shower outside if you really want to indulge in true island life.
There’s a beautiful beachy garden out the front of the property with sitting areas and hammocks for lounging, this beachfront hostel is perfect for the travelers who want to relax in Caye Caulker. There are also hammocks, chairs and swings on the upper level of the property, making it a great place to hang out to watch the sunset.

Yuma’s House is a great choice for the budget traveler who is looking for a relaxing environment rather than a party hostel. If you want a basic place to stay within walking distance of all main tour operators, bars, restaurants, and the best swimming spots, Yuma’s House is the place for you. This hostel is clean and cheap, with a great atmosphere, and has that perfect island feel.
