Long have our famous LGBTQI+ women been visible in the spotlight and with more media exposure and public coming out statements, we just had to make a list of the bisexual and lesbian celebrities who declared their sexuality in different ways.
We’ve spent years searching the internet for LGBTQIA+ media such as lesbian TV shows and lesbian movies, we even found an extensive list of lesbian web series and lesbian non-fiction and lesbian fiction books.
While some women in the spotlight choose to keep their personal lives private, we found a few who came out to the public and they’re striding with pride throughout their fame.

Wanda Sykes is an American actress, comedian, and writer. She was first globally recognized as an artist after winning a Primetime Emmy Award in 1999 for her work on The Chris Rock Show.
Wanda came out as a lesbian during a same-sex marriage rally in Las Vegas after marrying Alex Niedbalski in 2008. Wanda and Alex became parents in 2009 after Alex gave birth to twins, a girl and a boy named Olivia Lou and Lucas Claude.
In 2015, Wanda won the Activism in the Arts honor at the Triumph Awards and she is and most likely always will be vocally active around same-sex marriage legislation.

A woman of many talents, Lea Delaria is a Comedian, an Actress, and a Jazz musician. She’s probably most recognized for playing her role as Carrie ‘Big Boo’ Black in Netflix series, Orange is the New Black. Lea played prison stud Big Boo in all seasons of ‘OITNB’ and she is credited with being the first openly gay comic to appear on a late-night talk show after an appearance on The Arsenio Hall Show in 1993.
Lea received the Equality Illinois Freedom Award back in 2015 for her work as “a cutting-edge performer who has used her talent to entertain and enlighten millions of Americans”. On receiving the award, Lea said: “As an out performer for over 33 years who has made it her life’s work to change people’s perception of butch, queer and LGBT, it is an honor for me to receive such recognition from my home state.”

Samira Wiley

Samira Denise Wiley is an actress and model who is most recognized for playing the part of Poussey Washington in the Netflix comedy Orange Is the New Black. Peace and longtime partner Ellie Dickinson entered into a civil partnership in 2013, and subsequently converted it to marriage in 2014. They have three daughters together, Annie Mary, born to Dickinson in April 2015 and twins Jessie and Lola, born to Peace in June 2017.
Peace is a prominent supporter of LGBT equality causes. She is a patron of Manchester Pride and has recorded a video for Stonewall’s “It Gets Better” campaign.

Melissa Etheridge

Melissa Etheridge is a musician known for her mixture of “confessional lyrics, pop-based folk-rock, and raspy, smoky vocals.” She came out publicly in January 1993 and has been a LGBTQ activist ever since.
Melissa has received a whopping 15 Grammy Award nominations throughout her career, winning two, in 1993 and 1995. She also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. in 2011.
Melissa married actress, writer and producer, Linda Wallem, two days after they both turned 53 in 2014 at a ceremony in Montecito, California.

The single “Full Moon Full of Love” that stemmed from that album became a modest hit in the United States in the middle of 1989 and a Number 1 hit on the RPM Country chart in Canada.

Roseann O’Donnell is an American comedian, actress, author, and television personality. She has been a magazine editor and continues to be a celebrity blogger, a lesbian rights activist, a television producer.
In her January 31, 2002 appearance on the sitcom Will & Grace, she played a lesbian mom. A month later as part of her act at the Ovarian Cancer Research benefit at Caroline’s Comedy Club, O’Donnell came out as a lesbian, announcing “I’m a dyke!” “I don’t know why people make such a big deal about the gay thing. … People are confused, they’re shocked like this is a big revelation to somebody.
On February 26, 2004, O’Donnell married Kelli Carpenter, with whom she has four children with. They split in 2009.
Rosie began dating 40-year-old executive-search consultant Michelle Rounds in mid-2011 and they married in 2012. They split after two years of marriage in 2015.
