LGBT Music Artists to Watch Out For!

Here at Round the World Magazine, music is our medicine. Whether it’s a little bit of 90s Reggae, Trip-Hop, Vaporwave, or a good dose of the Spice Girls, we blare music from our campervan every single day in order to stay grounded.

With bars and clubs slowly reopening following the COVID-19 pandemic, we are very excited to see what musicians have been up to while being locked down and undistracted for almost half a year.

Is this the time we see the birth of brand new music genres? Or fresh integrations and fusions of instruments and vocals?

Not to mention creative ways to watch live performances! We recently enjoyed the vibrant beats of Vancouver’s Virtual Pride via live stream!

We’ve already heard a few whispers about many upcoming LGBT music artists from all over the globe and we have never been so excited to share them with you.

So, here we present to you an ever-growing list of LGBT music artists to watch out for:

Vincent & The Grenadines

Vincent & The Grenadines isn’t your average Anglophone Australian turned FrancoCanadian. Or maybe he is… There aren’t many practical references on the subject.

Having set down his roots in Montréal in the winter of 2017, Vincent fell deeply in love with his adopted home, quickly developing both fluency in French and a cold-hardiness not often seen in such southern specimens.
Three years later, equipped with these vital skills, his passion for music & visual arts, and all of the free time that accompanies a quarantine, Vincent took to his Montréal home studio to record his debut EP, titled Knife Crime Youth Club.

Knife Crime Youth Club is designed down to every detail to take you on a journey. Meandering yet coherent, every song plays with different styles across a spectrum of Alternative, Pop, and Rock, all the while peppered with both serious tones & topics and a campy flair for the dramatic.

The blend of Australian and Quebec influences permeate throughout the EP, drifting between its two languages – English and French – to tell stories of a life that is eerily reminiscent of your own, from the larger than life single & opening track, Dépanneur 24h – a French language, a punk-driven ode to a Montréal house party gone wrong, to the English soft-rock inspired single & closing track The Ballad of Montréal, a declaration of love to the winding staircases and changing seasons of Québec’s metropolis.

Rounding out the offering is a bass-driven anthem to alienation from youth culture in title track Knife Crime Youth Club, the tongue in cheek adult’s guide to 2020 in Comment Toucher Un Corps, and the dark, haunting pop take on unhealthy coping mechanisms that is Seven Years’ War.

There’s something in it for everyone — it’s short, concise, and easily digestible, just like a Canadian summer.
