The African continent is filled with diverse countries to visit, it can be challenging to decide which places to visit in Africa. it’s the kind of place that will keep you coming back for more, as there are so many different experiences to be had. There are many reasons why you should travel to Africa, but as it’s such a vast continent, you may be wondering where in Africa you should visit. There are 54 countries in total to explore, here are just five of the best to places to visit in Africa.

Uganda

This African country has one of the most diverse landscapes in the whole continent. One minute you could be watching the wildlife around Lake Victoria and the next you could be climbing the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains. One of the best reasons to visit Uganda is Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park where you can see stunning mountain gorillas in their natural habitat – and even take part in a gorilla safari trek. Once you’re done here, make Murchison Falls National Park your next stop to capture some beautiful photographs of elephants, hippos, and the rare shoebill storks.

Egypt

Egypt may be one of the most popular destinations in Africa, but there is a good reason for that. If you want to escape the hustle and bustle found in some of the more famous Egyptian resorts, such as Cairo and Luxor, consider a trip to Aswan instead. This town hasn’t yet been taken over by tourists, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of things to do. From Philae: The Temple of ISIS through Elephantine Island, you won’t be stuck for activities and sights in Aswan. You can also take a day trip to some of the most popular attractions in Egypt, including the Pyramids and Great Sphinx of Giza. Finish your trip off with a cruise down the River Nile, to soak up all of the sights Egypt has to offer.

Tanzania

If the thought of white sanded beaches appeals to you, you simply have to visit Tanzania. This country is yet another diverse piece of Africa that keeps people coming back time and time again. You’re also likely to spot The Big Five (buffalo, elephant, lion, leopard, and rhino) in this part of the continent, particularly if you visit one of the many game parks and reserves across Tanzania. Many of these reserves were built to protect animals from poachers, so your trip can help contribute to their hard work. One of the most popular conservation centres in Tanzania is Cheetah’s Rock, which is definitely worth adding to the bucket list. It can be found in Zanzibar, which is also where some of the most beautiful beaches are.  A beach and safari holiday combined – what could be better?!

South Africa

Head to the southernmost tip of Africa to experience everything South Africa has to offer, and you won’t be disappointed! Hike or bike up Table Mountain to see this beautiful country from above, make your way to the tip of the Cape Peninsula at Cape of Good Hope, and even spot a penguin or two at Boulders Beach. Cape Town is a bustling metropolis that offers up plenty of places to stay and some fun attractions for both day and night. There are also nearly 300 vegan and vegetarian restaurants dotted around South Africa, so you won’t be stuck for food choices either!

Last, but by no means least, is the contrasting beauty of Kenya. This African country has savannahs to explore, lakelands to enjoy, the breathtaking Great Rift Valley to photograph, mountain highlands to climb, and the city of Nairobi to adventure in. Yet again, more proof that Africa is filled with diverse countries, Kenya is certainly no different. Whether you want to investigate one of the many National Parks and natural beauties here or you’re more intrigued by the rapidly advancing city of Nairobi, there’s no way you could ever get bored in Kenya.
