Our Experience with Outdoorsy
Our content writer, Mark, used Outdoorsy to rent out his own campervan.
He bought a GMC Savanna workers van and converted it into a beautiful living space.
He installed a wood burning stove and insulation inside because he was travelling Canada and the winters are notoriously cold!
He installed a fold out bed, a kitchen and storage units and decorated the interior with shims of cedar wood, it smelled and looked like a log cabin on wheels!
He also installed a solar panel and an electric converter during the camper van conversion and he was able to charge phones and a laptop comfortably as well as enjoying fairy lights and a Himalayan pink salt lamp! The way he did the interior of the camper van and the beautiful photos he took made the van really appealing and comfortable to potential renters.
Mark wasn’t staying in the van every night as he managed to get work with staff accomodation included so he decided to list the van on Outdoorsy to see if he’d be able to earn some cash for renting out his camper van.
Low and behold, he had two booking requests in his first week and six requests in the first month!
He listed the campervan for rental at a reasonable $67 Canadian dollars a night (around $50 USD). He made $1500 in his first booking after the deduction of Outdoorsy’s fees and tax.
Outdoorsy provided the rental insurance of up to $1 million and renters were able to access online support and communicate with the the owner at any opportunity.
Mark could also communicate with the renters at any time.
