Vegan House, Hollywood, California
We’ve been vegan-eating our way around the world for quite some time now, and to put it lightly, Vegan House, in the heart of Hollywood, literally blew us away.
We read incredible positive reviews on Happy Cow, Trip Advisor and Google during our visit to Los Angeles, so it was way up there on our vegan hit list.
The Restaurant
Vegan House is situated in a small and modest cafe-style building, lined with wooden furnishings and budget signage.
We were greeted by super friendly staff who guided us through the extensive menu and allocated us a seat. We arrived at 3pm for an early dinner after suffering jet-lag-induced misaligned eating times. We were the only people in the restaurant.
Vegan House is located just off the famous Hollywood Boulevard and is a short 10 minute walk from the Chinese Theater.
Address: 1717 Wilcox Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90028, USA
The Vegan House Menu offers mostly Asian dishes with a small section of American foods listed towards the end.
Dishes include their famous Orange Soy ‘Chicken’, Sweet and Sour ‘Chicken’, Sushi, Noodles and Curries.
There are free vegan ‘Cough Drops’ and sweets on the counter, which was lovely.
There is a restroom towards the back of the restaurant though it isn’t clearly signed.
Vegan House Menu
The extensive menu offers vegan dishes from all over the world. We took a long time selecting what we wanted! Pictures are included within the menu of some of the dishes to help make up your mind.

What we ate
After a long time deciding, we finally selected our mains, drinks and deserts.
We opted to sample Vegan House’s famous Orange Soy Chicken ($11.50) which is popular in the restaurant and on online delivery sites such as Grub Hub.
We could hear the fryer sizzling away as the dish was prepared and there was no need to worry about any animal fats being used as the full establishment is 100% vegan.
The Orange Soy Chicken was delicious, so much so, we wanted to order more!
For drinks, we chose a delicious Coconut Palm Juice ($3.50) from Thailand (which was unbelievably tasty) and a Strawberry Smoothie ($4) made with dairy-free milk.
We also chose the Teriyaki Grilled Soy ($11.50) served with vegetables. So healthy and full of exploding flavors.
We had little room for dessert after finishing our mains but couldn’t resist the extensive Vegan House Dessert Menu that listed freshly baked local goodies such as Vegan Carrot Cake and Banana Cake.
Unfortunately, the restaurant ran out of carrot cake so we opted for the Banana Cake ($6) which was a perfect choice.
The cake was light and fresh and one piece was enough to share between two.
We left Vegan House full to the brim of goodness and we haven’t stopped thinking about it since. The food was fresh and delicious, everything tasted clean and light and the portion sizes were perfect.
We had ordinarily found it difficult to find good vegan Asian cuisine and Vegan House proved that it is not only possible to serve up delicious delicacies from the other side of the world, but they can also be made cruelty-free.
